Dear Internet

I have recently decided I would like to be a makeup artist and have joined forces with Archer Rose Photography to bring you all the best in makeup, hair styling and stunning photography.

This experience has lasted 2 months so far, and I must say that I finally feel like I am enjoying my work, and living my passion. We are getting inquiries and have only received positive feedback so far.

It is so fulfilling to do what I love. Finance assistant by day, makeup artist by night (weekend).

Dat sh*t Cray!

Dear Internet

Have you seen the news in the Western Cape/South Africa lately? Damn crazy! Dogs driving cars, Zuma buying thrones, people dying on the roads, murder suspects escaping Pollsmoor Prison… I don’t even want to mention the worldwide catastrophes hitting our eyeballs and ear holes! Sometimes I think: “I don’t want to live on this planet anymore!” and then I get over it. This world is so wonderfully messed up and one cannot help but be entertained. I will continue to read the news though – there is always a glimpse of hope to be found.

On the topic of the world ending, I don’t think it is going to happen, BUT if it does – I will throw myself down on the ground and start laughing. It would be so entertaining, albeit frightening. I am so curious as to what would happen though – zombies unleashed from the depths of the graveyards? Meteor showers setting the world alight? Worldwide Tsunami’s drowning us (who is supposed to build the Ark V2.0?). Will the ozone layer eventually give up on us and we choke to death? I don’t know man, any theory is a contender. Will we even live to see Christmas – the holiday that people spend so much time, energy and money on to impress others…

Ah - Christmas. I despise this holiday time. Not because I am the Grinch, but because I feel that all the emphasis is put on food and gifts, and not on being together and loving each other. A lot of people give so little love to the ones that care about them, that it seems as though giving out materialistic gifts once a year makes everything OK for a while. I think not dear Internet. I think not.

Anywhoozle, we all know that this will not change, but a girl can dream! I hope that you have a lovely end of the world - or not.

Love ALL the time,
Cat (=^__^=)

Far Far Away

Dear Internet,

So obviously I live in Cape Town, but I was summoned to come live in Johannesburg for one month for training. I don’t have a particular problem with Jo’burg, but last time I was here I went kind of psycho. Lived here for three months only, but with the current situations I found myself in, it was a recipe for disaster. Needless to say, I moved back to my beloved Cape Town. Now, I find myself in this bipolar ridden city with no mountain and no ocean.

The first two days went fine, I was disorientated (and I still am), but I think I’m getting there slowly. I just find it so hard to like this place with the taste of utter bitterness in my mouth from last time… I am desperately trying to make the best of my time here, but I feel so awful. I am missing my brother’s 21st birthday, and whole other bunch of important birthdays and events. I guess sacrifice is just something that will always linger. I feel particularly angry at the world today with hormones and hay fever as contributing factors… I do however feel that I am learning a lot, and fast as well.

Mr Marilyn Manson is keeping my eardrums company, so that’s great... I don’t know Internet, it is as though the air here contains insta-depression powder. Like WTF mate?! On the other hand, it might all be in my head. Maybe I just need to lighten the fuck up. I would really like a cigarette right now, but I rely on others to get where I need to be.

Shit – this is one emo blog post.

On the up side, I found a great pair of shoes! SO wearing it on casual Friday! I am quite excited. Haha!  I have also been able to sample legit Chinese cuisine. Not the Chinese take-away kind, but the rather-don't-ask-questions kind; you just eat and hope for the best. So far, so good.  I need to take a shower but I am suddenly extremely lazy. BAD. Bad Cat.

I guess I should get to it though.

Worth the Weight?

Dear Internet

Monday again, and I am feeling quite blue. I think I am just tired. Why? Well, I partied too damn hard again this weekend, that's why. Lol, so hard, that I have given up smoking. It is a flipping disgusting habit anyway. I also think I am going to stick to single whiskey and water from now on...

ANYWAY, so I entered this competition called SleekGeek (www.sleekgeek.co.za) - It is an 8 week summer body challenge, where you can either choose to take part in the weight loss category or the transformation (toning) category. You pay R500 entry fee, submit your measurements, weight, body fat percentage and 3 full length pictures of yourself in all the least flattering positions, and then choose on which Monday you would like to start your 8 week challenge. There is something like 10 heats. I started TODAY...

I am not THAT chubby, so I decided to enter the toning competition, although the full length pictures brought me tumbling back to Earth. You have 8 weeks in which you need to transform your body. If you succeed and come out on top, you win R20,000.00 - What an awesome incentive :P Even if I don't win, I am hoping to look slamming for this hot summer slowly approaching. Check it out:

As all of you that have tried to lose weight would know - this is damn difficult. I need to get up waaaay earlier every day now, to do 45 mins of cardio. Then for the entire day I need to eat clean (no chocolate, no crisps, no full cream milk, no processed foods) and after work there is about an hour of weight training on my daily menu. HAHA! I get tired just thinking about it...

Hopefully I will be successful in my endeavor, so that I can proudly post my horrible "before" pictures, next to my wonderful "after" pictures.

Hold thumbs!

P.S. I want chocolate...

The Maharajah Indian Restaurant

Dear Internet,

We meet again... :P

I have been quiet since my previous emotional and lonely posts. I have made a ton of new friends (including finding new love), I have turned 24 (not so young anymore) and I also started going out a lot more. These people are amazing.

Part of this 'going out more' thing, is taking Dinner Club seriously again. Now, Dinner Club is a gathering of a lot of my raucous and beautiful female friends - we meet once a month at a different restaurant (usually suggested by someone in the group) in Cape Town, South Africa. We started it in November 2011 and the aim is to try new foods, find new places, make time for each other, take a trip out into the beautiful world and ofcourse, catch up on all the latest gossip.

In the month of August 2012 I suggested that we go to The Maharajah Indian restaurant in Tamboerskloof, Cape Town. The setting is in a very vibey area of Cape Town. The Decor in the restaurant is what is to be expected of an Indian restaurant. Upon entering, you are greeted with a rich blend of curried aromas, and then by a smiling waitor. We were seated, and the service from the waitor started and ended with professionalism, kindness and extreme patience for our group's slightly obnoxious (in a funny way) style.

The food was damn amazing, the quality was of high standard and the flavours were intoxicating. All in the best way possible. The presentation of the meals are apetizing, and the wait was not even that long either. The best surprise was the value for money. This is always taken into consideration, especially regarding everyone's tight budgets. Needless to say, every single lady walked out of there with a tummy full of happy.

This is the first restaurant that I cannot stop yapping about. I have reccommended it to every single person who would listen.

So here is a link: (pretty cool wesite too - try it out)

And a picture showcasing my lame photographic skills AS WELL AS their samoosas, Butter Chicken and Lamb Curry, and some other stuff that I can't remember.

That is all for now. Check you soon (^__^)

Much love, Cat xxx

Roxette Live in Cape Town, South Africa

Dear Internet

OMG! I saw Roxette live!! GOLDEN CIRCLE BABY! And I have only been waiting since the 80s to see them! I was so overwhelmed that I could not even cry! HAHA!

On a more serious note - I have been listening to Roxette since I was very young. My dad introduced me to their music. We spent weekends listening to their tunes. Unfortunately, my dad passed away early in 2007. I have been such a mess since then, and my friends think I have not dealt with the loss. But, I mean, does one ever really deal with it? Now, the reason that I mentioned this, is that Roxette played in Cape Town on 08 June a.k.a My Dad's birthday.

It was such a wonderful experience to see them live, to sing all these songs with them and reminisce about my dad and I frolicking to the beat of their awesomeness.
What made this experience even more special, was the fact that my soulmate lady friend (pic attached) was there to share it all with me (^__^)

It is times like these where I really do feel that there is a greater power that has an effect on our lives as we know it.

After this, my soulmate Lady friend and I went to the Northern Suburbs for some Psytrance stomping. There are always the most oddest people at these gatherings... The one guy asked me to escort him to the bathroom (WTF), and some other guy told me about how I look like a Chinese fighter girl. Then some other oke yells at me and screams, "JUST SAY YES", whilst nodding his head viciously . I politely counter-nodded. And this seemed to please the young dread-headed stomper.

People really do entertain me more that alcohol does.

Anyway Internet, that's my update for now.

PS. RECYCLE!

Love, Cat (=^_^=)
